Carlos Policarpo won the first Sertões International Rally in his career. Together with his navigators, Romulo Seccomandi and Davi Fonseca, the trio were ion the lead since the middle of the race, from when they steadily increased the advantage over the competitors, keeping regularity with no breakdowns.

Today they started off with over an hour advantage in relation to the second place, and they administrated the this difference, arriving in third place in the stage. “This year was better than I expected, everything worked out well, the truck had no problems, the navigation was perfect, and any problems we had with the truck, the mechanic solved perfectly”, the champion celebrated.

The trucks finished the last stage of the Sertões International Rally that left from Iguatu (CE). The heavies underwent several difficulties during the ten days of competition, like a bridge that fell blocking the passage and cutting the stage short.

With only 103 kilometers of special stretch, the giants started at 2:35 pm this Tuesday and traversed the track in an average of 1h30m up to the finish line. The winner of the day was the team formed by Amable Barrasa, Cesar Botas and Rafael Bettoni in 1h37m50s, followed by Edu Piano, Solon Mendes and Carlos Sales with a time of 1h38m31s and Carlos Policarpo, Romulo Seccomadi and Davi Fonseca with a time of 01h42m25s.

In the overall ranking, Guido Salvini, Flavio Bisi and Fernando Chwaigert came in second place with a total time of 39h15m50s. They were champions of the heavy truck category. “My truck arrived intact. The only break I had was my fault. So I cannot say that I won for one reason or the other, I won because my truck got to the finish and I managed to take it to the closed park. The work is over and tomorrow it’s just climbing the podium and receiving my trophy”, Salvini said.

In third in the overall ranking, second in the heavy trucks, wer Edu Piano, Solon Mendes and Carlos Sales with a time of 41h55m18s. “The rally was fantastic, a historical edition of the Sertões International Rally. Unfortunately we had a problem in the eighth stage and there we lost the lead, but is was good. For the team it was very good, we have two trucks in the lights, category where we came in first and third. In general we are very happy to have participated in a historical edition”, Said Piano, who has participated in the Sertões 17 times.
