Stéphane Peterhansel is a French driver, 47 year old, and ex-skateboarder. His passion for the sport made him national champion when he was only 13 years old, but after his interest for vehicles introduced him to speed competitions.

His most remarking characteristic is his regularity. The victories are always marked by good performance. Peterhansel already lifted the Dakar trophy ten times: six times in the Bikes category and four times in the cars.

The dispute in this Sertões Rally was tight with Brazilian Spinelli, Guiga. The Frenchman lost the lead in the overall standing to Spinelli, but his qualities made him recover the lost minutes very easily.

To have an idea, Peterhansel and Spinelli had a difference of only the seconds in the fourth stage, that changed in the next race. The Frenchman consolidated the lead and opened the advantage more and more.

In today’s stage, the driver went calmly, and even coming in fourth, guaranteed the title with an overall time of 26h6m53s and an advantage greater than 23 minutes over the second place.

“It was a great practice and test for the Dakar. Afterall, it’s always good to win. If it’s possible for me to come back, certainly it will be a pleasure. Specially now that I now the race better”, said Peterhansel.
