The eighth stage of the Sertões International Rally for heavy trucks could not be completed this Wednesday and was cancelled, according to the test’s management. This was so, as the trucks had extreme difficulties in getting through the narrow stretch between Barra do Corda (MA) and Teresina (PI).

The trios led by André Azevedo and Guido Salvini will return to the competition this Thursday between Teresina (PI) and Sobral (CE), in what will be the penultimate Special in the 2011 competition.

Azevedo’s trio, entered into contact with the rally organization and decided to make a liaison through the asphalt roads. “On the narrow stretch, the back wheel hit a tree, damaging the suspension. Really, the today’s stage was not made for big vehicles, so much so that we and our opponent left the test together “, said André.

Edu Piano, driver of the truck that leads the light category, stated that he also had problems: “For us it was also very hard. It was a narrow stretch, so we had to be careful with tree trunks and branches. It was a very tough Special. The final liaison killed us. I got the box area at almost 19:00”.

Among the light trucks, the day’s winner was the trio, Rafael de Souza Martinez Conde/José Papacena Neto/Leandro Oliveira.
