Straight from Sobral (CE) - After being placed second in Sertões International Rally, 2009 in his debut in the competition, Deni do Nascimento was forced to quit the race this year because of injuries and problems with his equipment.

"For me, the only good part of Sertões International Rally 2010 was being hired by the Petrobras team. From the beginning I had problems. Either problems with me, physically, or the bike, but I managed to get on with the race until the sixth stage in the marathon stage, where I ended up without the gear and had to abandon the race", said the rider, visibly shaken and upset for leaving the race.

"I am now as a viewer, but with great pain in my heart. I'm going to leave because it cannot stand being in there. I like it, but wanted to be competing", said the rider, who will undergo a wrist surgery to reconstruct the ligaments.

Future - The future is still uncertain for the rider, who had a meeting with the Petrobras team. "We talked it but nothing is certain. In the next two months I should not think about bike due to the surgery. After that I should get back into training for, perhaps, make some stages in the Brazilian championship and perhaps dream about the Dakar. But still nothing is settled, we are negotiating", he said. For him, it is important to be physically fit". I do not want to make the same mistake I made in Sertões, not being 100%. I want to be fit to race the way I like. I do not like racing in pain, taking medicine to quit, I want to be physically well", he concludes.
