Straight from Goiânia - The Chilean brothers James and Felipe Prohens already feel at home during the Sertões International Rally. Jaime is in his fifth Sertões, while Felipe will make his debut in the competition
"I'm very motivated. In 2006 I came to assist my brother and I saw how beautiful this is race is. I have raced two Dakars, and I intend to do a good race, always respecting the hardship and being very alert, because I know it is very difficult," said Felipe.
Jaime knows the difficulties of the race and the competence of Brazilian drivers. "I have a little more experience and know how hard it is, besides the Brazilians who drive very fast," he said. "I want to go calm and cautiously because it is a long race, difficult, dangerous, with many animals on the road and cattle guards. It is a race to be respected," he says.
The driver is already so familiar with the race and the Brazilians that, this year, he will have two Brazilians in his assistance team, Vicente Neto and Carlos Ambrósio. "The Sertões is a very friendly rally, it is a very beautiful family. It is a happy rally and the only green one, because most are run in desert places. The bivouacs are open and people are always around in cities. It is a special rally, that’s why I like Sertões so much," he adds.
A joyful début - Debuting in Sertões, Felipe is so happy, not only by racing the Sertões, but for the opportunity to experience a different Brazil. "I'm very happy. Brazil is an amazing country and this rally allows for a different kind of tourism, not just beaches and caipirinhas, but one can know the reality of the country. I am very happy to be here and most of all, to be racing next to my brother," says the driver.
