No surprises. Volkswagen is still fighting their private battle to win Sertões International Rally cup. Today, the favoritismo da equipe alemã foi confirmado com os três primeiros tempos do dia. Carlos Sainz was the fastest, followed by Nasser and Mauricio.
The Touaregs didn’t struggle too much to complete the 197 kilometers of the special. In approximately 45 minutes, the three blue cars had crossed the first checkpoint.
Carlos Sainz/ Lucas Cruz finished the special in 1h51min04s. Right behind came Nasser Al-Attiyah/ Timo Gottschalk, who crossed the last checkpoint in 1h52min42s, followed by Mauricio Neves/ Eduardo Bampi, witn 1h56min50s.
Reinaldo Varela/ Marcos Macedo had a special taste today. All in all, the pair faced many mechanical problems during the Marathon Stage and finished last special wondering if they would be able to go on in the race. They were the last car to start, but finished the day with the 5th best time, 2h07min48s.
